The Ketubah is a traditional Jewish wedding contract between the husband and his wife. The contract states the responsibilities of the Jewish husband to his wife providing security, monetary protection and stating her rights as a wife. Historically, it was a written document to protect the woman from any harm may the marriage end for any reason.

During the ceremony, the Ketubah is to be signed by two witnesses after being read aloud under the chuppah. It is then handed to the bride. Many modern ceremonies include the Ketubah being framed and displayed for all to see.

Ketubot are made in many different forms. However, they are always considered a Jewish ceremonial art form. Today, you can find Ketubot on many different websites, including Etsy. From traditional to geometric, the designs are extremely varied. We love these geometric Ketubot! They are modern and timeless.

We love these laser-cut floral designs from Jennifer Raichman’s Etsy Shop. The florals are romantic and simple while the laser-cut details make the document a 3D piece of art. Look through Jennifer’s amazing shop to see more Ketubah designs that are to die for.

Here are two examples of more traditional styles of Ketubah art. These would look amazing in a country chic home or in a rustic setting. When considering the style of your Ketubah, we suggest thinking about where you will be displaying it if you chose to. The colors, details and style, like any hanging artwork, will determine where it can be hung in your house.

We love these watercolor Ketubah designs. The tree is a symbol that is often used in Ketubah art to resemble stability and strength in a marriage. The tree of life can also be seen as the main symbol in many Ketubot. We love this tree design by the artist Hadass Mor Gerson. See more of her work here!

The Ketubah is traditionally hung in the home in a predominant spot in order to remind the couple of their vows and responsibilities that they have made to one another. However, some choose to either keep it in a private location or not display it at all. We love these framed Ketubot. They are so simple, beautiful and remind us of the love and commitment that was made between the happy couple.

When it comes to many wedding traditions, culture plays a large role in many ceremonies. We love the idea of art and tradition coming together as one in this beautiful Jewish ceremonial document, the Ketubah. Enjoy your searching for the perfect piece of art for your home if this is a tradition that you follow!
